The Black Swamp

It was a beautiful winter day, the breeze a bit cool and we should have taken jumpers!

The Black Swamp Wetlands is an ecosystem of birds, animals and vegetation in the middle of Cleveland. This is a nesting site for many birds which come to roost from 4pm until dark. There are magpie geese, cormorants and the ugly annoying ibis in hoards.

Up to 100,00 bats disperse throughout the Redlands area at dusk and include the greyheaded flying-fox, black flying-fox and the little red-flying fox.

A walk through Cleveland before lunch was so very pleasant.

Lunch was at the Coffee Club. Between us we had a steak sandwich and turkey sandwich accompanied by fries and salad...........very nice.

It was very chilly down by the water at Raby bay where we finally went to walk and view the magnificent boats.
